Private Joseph Fields
Born: about 1774, possibly in Culpepper County, Virginia.
Probably raised in Kentucky. Enlisted, with his brother Reuben, August 1, 1803. May have
been known to Captain Lewis prior to their enlistment.
Excellent woodsman and hunter. Often involved in duties of exploration.
