Private Pierre Cruzatte

Born: date and location unknown

Enlisted May 16, 1804 in St. Charles, Missouri. Son of a French father and Omaha Indian
mother and spoke both French and Omaha. Cruzatte was the expedition's main boatman as
well and regularly played the fiddle for the men and for the Indians they encountered.
Described as "near Sighted and has the use of but one eye...." but also was frequently
mentioned as a hunter.
