Captain William Clark
Born: August 1, 1770 near Charlottsville, Virginia.
Scottish ancestry. Son of John and Ann(Rogers) Clark.
Popular leader of men. Promised a captaincy by Lewis. Received pay and recognition
as a captain though, when the commission was received, it was for a second
lieutenant.
